Built Area: 3,290.988 sqm

Project Status:
‘Sunny Residence’ is envisioned as a refined, multistoried luxury residence within the rapidly developing Bashundhara Residential Area. More than simply a vertical extension of living spaces, the project is conceived as a home for 6–7 families. The development is anchored in the client’s aspiration to recreate the sense of belonging and memory embedded in their ancestral home in Old Dhaka. Their new residence seeks to translate that familiar sense of belonging, comfort, and togetherness into a contemporary architectural language.
A defining feature of the project is the central green loft and vertical void—conceptualized as the “Nest”, both symbolic and functional. This carved-out space anchors the entire building, offering a serene inner world where light, wind, water, sound, and greenery coexist. It restores the essence of the courtyard typology familiar in traditional Dhaka residences. The massing is sculpted to maximize natural ventilation, encourage cross-breezes, and allow unobstructed views from the upper family levels where the owners will reside. Layered balconies, green verandas, and carefully designed cutouts soften the verticality, grounding the structure in a dialogue between built form and nature.

Contextual sensitivity is rooted in the project’s design decisions responding not only to the urban scale of Bashundhara but also to the intimate scale of domesticity. The building navigates between openness and enclosure, memory and modernity. Each decision spatial, climatic, structural, and experiential contributes to a residence that feels both deeply personal and universally livable
Sunny Residence is ultimately a home that grows upwards, yet stays emotionally grounded. It celebrates the family’s past while embracing the future, creating an environment where three generations can live side by side connected, comfortable, and always close to the essence of home.
